On Friday May 24th at 3:06, 4 separate Windows 2003 R2 SP2 web servers running IIS 6 froze up. The servers are installed on four Dell PE R300 servers. No crash dumps were generated, and there are no entires in the System or Application logs, or in the IIS logs to indicate a problem. Once the servers where hard restarted, they resumed normal operations, and have been runnning smoothly since then. Are there any known exploits or viruses that could have caused this? We do not have real-time AV on the web server, but they are behind a Cisco ASA firewall.
Also, any ideas to prevent this from happening again? Thank you.
