I've noticed that since using a 2012 CA the serial numbers of issued certificates are enormous (e.g. 2b0000000efdab71d277bb65f200000000000e). I know logically it doesn't really matter how long the serial number is, but I've been asked if there is a reason why it is so... and if there is any way to shorten it so that reviewing entries in CRLs is a little easier?
Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Rob
