Good Day!
Ill be describing the problem via scenarios weve encountered;
Units:
2 pcs Desktop Computers - 1 installed with WinXP Pro the other with Win7 Pro (both 64 bit)
1 pc Server Computer - Installed with WinServer 2003
Scenario/Problem:
- WinXp - After updating and installation we proceed to attaching the unit to the DOMAIN, after changing the Computer Name (restart) we then replaced the WORKGROUP to DOMAIN (example.com.xx) so it will ask for the DOMAIN's ADMINISTRATOR Username and Password. Upon accomplishing it a POPUP message would say "WELCOME TO EXAMPLE.COM.XX" if we use other Authentication such as normal users MYNAME.SURNAME and 123456 for its password it will DENY us ACCESS.
- Win7 - After updating and installation same process with the WinXP we replaced the Computer Name too and restarted the unit. Upon replacing the WORKGROUP to DOMAIN (example.com.xx) it asked for authentication DOMAIN's Administrator Username ans Password it will work as it did on WINXP but even if we use an ORDINARY USER account it will still allow us to attach the computer to the domain. an ordinary MYNAME.SURNAME ans 123456 will authorize the attachment.
Question:
- How come it works only to WinXP and not on WIN7?
- Is it that our Server is OLDER than the Workstation's OS?
- What is the possible solution to this without UPGRADING the DOMAIN SERVER?
Thank You,
