Hi All,
So i have researched this to my whits end and I cannot find a solution to disabled the ability for a Windows XP client to connect to preferred wireless networks automatically...
We need to have a Wireless GPO pushed out to Windows XP clients that contains "On-Demand" instead of "Automatic" in the Wireless Profile...
I currently have a Wireless Network GPO that contains our wireless Profile information (WPA2/AES/ --> Certfifcate (TLS)
Everything works great except that when this GPO is deployed to a laptop user that does not have a wireless certificate installed, it prompts them to select a certificarte for this wireless connection. It is doing this because the wireless profile is set to "Automatically Connect when this Network is in Range"
We want to control this setting via Group Policy (Actually want to uncheck this checkbox by default. When we uncheck it manually, it reappers next time GP is applied.
Is this possible on XP? I confirmed that Vista policy contains this prefernce and we can set this (works correctly) on Vista.
Is there a hack (reg or otherwise) that will enable us to manage this setting for Windows XP via GPO?
If not, is there a way to establish settings for the Computer Object (GPO) and have those computer settings apply based on a user? I know there is a feature to do the opposite of this (Loopback processing) but this only works to apply user settings when the GP is applied to the computer. Is there a vise versa? If so, we can then apply these computer specific GPO's to the user who is allows wireless and has a certificate and we can leave the automatic alone as they will have a cert and will connect automatically...we just want to prevent automatic connections for users who dont have the cert installed (not authorized)
Any help is appreciated!!
Thanks!
