Administrator Permissions problem in SBS 2011 (windows Server 2008)

Hello,

I'm administering an small business server 2011 (based on Windows 2008 R2 server) and have been struggling since its initial installation with administrator permissions.

the server does not seem to recognize that my account is a member of the administrators group, causing the protection and elevated dialog screens to pop-up every so often.
the most annoying issue is with file security, where I have to jump through unexpected hoops to copy files and such.

for example:

for some file operations, the "you must have admins rights" dialog pops up.
If I continue, this adds my account to the security tab usernames, even though the adminstrators group (of which I am a member) has already full control ?!

(names altered to protect the guilty)
my account: member of:  Administrators   -> mydomain.local/Builtin
the file security tab: Administrators (MYDOMAIN\Administrators)  -> Full Control

but windows insists on adding myaccount(myaccount@mydomain.local) to the user list, before I can interact with the file.

On other SBS's (2000,2003) this issue does not occur.
I must be missing something obvious, but what?

best regards
glenn
