Issue with enterprise certificate after user name change in AD

After user or last name change in Active directory, he can no longer connect to any application that requires certificate for authentication. (Eg: Wifi, VPN, direct access etc)

Steps tried so far:

-Remove computer from domain and join again.
-delete user certificate in computer and in AD properties
-run as administrator: gpupdate /force

How exactly should we fix this issue?
