Server 2008 R2
We have a shared folder \DATA$ and I want to map everyone S: to \DATA$ within data are several other folders for each department. However I only want a user to be able to see the folder that they have rights to on the S: drive (mapped to \DATA$)
At this point the entire building has 'special permissions' to \DATA$ of "List folder / read data", "Read attributes", "Read extended attributes", & "Read permissions".
However this allows all users to see each folder, NOT the contents just the folder itself.
I would prefer that the users ONLY see the folder that they have rights too. There are nosey people in the world and if someone sees a folder called "payroll", even though they don't have rights to see what is in the folder, I'm sure they are more likely to start snooping.
This seems like it should be a very simple solution but as soon as I take "List folder / read data" away at the Share level then the drive does not properly map. I must be mising something!
Thank you,
