We have a network with two Windows 2008 Std servers acting as domain controllers. On "Server1" a newly minted system administrator didn't understand why two servers were appearing under "Domain Controllers" in Active Directory Users and Computers and deleted the entry for "Server2". He will be dealt with later!
Now all attempts to log in to Server2 are rejected, whether using domain credentials or the local server's administrator account. I have used PCSWinRecovery to clear the local administrator password and that appears to proceed without a problem, but any attempt to log in using the local administrator account fails.
I can browse to Server2 from other machines and can map drive letters to it using domain credentials, so I can see all of the files on the server. The primary application on the server is SQL and the client programs that talk to SQL are running without a problem -- the only issue is that nobody can log onto the server.
Any suggestions will be MOST appreciated!
