when i connect to my hp printer's embedded web server (ews) securely (https), it presents a certificate created by itself granted to itself, and not surprisingly, both ie and chrome display big warnings. both allow me to proceed (in the fine print).
is there some way to tell windows i approve the hpb0a404's (printer's name) cert. save it in my trusted publishers or something?
i'm new to certificates (in case it's not obvious :). thanks in advance
details if useful: printer is hp photosmart 7520e, connects to network (not usb to computer), is working fine. its ews connects home page without security, but it requires security for some pages. computer is toshiba satellite u845t, 6GB ram, 500GB disk, 32GB SSD, i5 1.8GHZ * 4 up to 2.5 turbo, 802.11n, and the usual stuff. this is a home system, private home lan. i also use a network accessible disk (NAS).
seems this problem would be very widespread, as in everybody using secure communication to anything? so i'm hoping it's solved. :)
since i've never run into this before but use https wherever i can, i suspect (windows comes with a certificate for me to communicate https with other certificate-d sites. but doesn't seem to have anything for this.
